Are you one of the millions of parents who were dragged to the theater to see the new Cinderella movie? If so, then evil stepmothers and glass slippers are likely fresh on your mind. Poor Cinderella went through so much, and most of it was entirely unnecessary. Sure, the Fairy Godmother did her very best, but what Cinderella really needed was a great help desk. You’re definitely wondering “that’s a stretch, how could that actually help?” So glad you asked!
1. Good Help Desk Workers Would Have Escalated Cinderella’s Case to Someone Higher Up
Cinderella was obviously in a tough situation. Good help desk workers know that when they see someone in this big of a pickle, it’s time to escalate the case to the next level. If a help desk had been involved instead of the Fairy Godmother, bless her heart, they’d have immediately recognized that the wicked stepmother was a serious threat and that the situation had to be addressed ASAP. Cinderella’s case would have been before the benevolent king without all the hoopla. The night of the ball and glass slippers would have had a happy ending for all.
2. A Competent Help Desk Worker Would Have Blocked the User Codes of Those Wicked Step-Sisters
Really, it’s bad enough that the wicked stepmom bosses poor Cindy around, but the stepsisters too? That’s just too much. Competent help desk workers realize when someone doesn’t have the right level of authority to be doing something, and they block that user immediately and investigate the situation.
3. The Help Desk Could Have Easily Provided a Work-Around for the Mice & Pumpkin if Cinderella Was Out Past Midnight
Sometimes, there simply isn’t a good solution to a given situation. But help desk workers who are on top of their game can always find a great work-around solution for most any given problem. If the mice and pumpkin were getting ready to change from a grand carriage and horses back into their lowly forms before poor Cinderella was safely back home, the help desk could have found some way to keep them under that spell past midnight.
4. Any Help Desk Worker Worth Their Salt Would Have Debugged Those Glass Slippers
The glass slipper just fell right off? Just like that? Geez, any knowledgeable help desk worker would have made sure those glass slippers fit like custom-made gloves before sending Cinderella to that ball to face her fate. Ill-fitting slippers are a security hazard, and help desk workers pride themselves on providing top notch security. Couldn’t have happened if Cinderella had used a help desk instead of a Fairy Godmother, who presumably doesn’t know much about thorough testing.
5. Savvy Help Desk Workers Would Have Used Big Data to Identify the Owner of the Glass Slipper for the Prince
So, say Cinderella’s evil stepmother and cruel stepsisters couldn’t be stopped. Maybe there was no work-around for the mice and pumpkin, and the darn slipper just fell off despite all of the testing and debugging and patching one could do. These things happen. But the most innovative help desks know how to use big data. With analysis on Cinderella, where she came from, where she was going, and the glass slipper itself, the prince could have narrowed down his search and found his true love right off the bat.
We’re sure the Fairy Godmother did her very best. She just doesn’t have the skills and training of the modern help desk. Alas, Cinderella’s prince finally found her, so we suppose everyone can have their Happily Ever After anyway.
