One size doesn’t always fit all. And, what’s best for one IT organization could be detrimental to another. In the IT industry many look to their peers for ideas on how to best combat a particular issues. But, every organization in every industry functions individually and unfortunately there isn’t one best practice that is going to solve all problems. For example, an IT service management tool may be perfect for the IT manager at a Fortune 1000 company, but that tool may be overwhelming with large needs for customization for his buddy in the growing start up. So, how do you know what will make the most sense for your IT team?
“Stop trying to go out and find that one uber best practice that’s going to solve all your problems or the tool thats going to handle all your issues. They don’t exist,” said Ken Gonzalez. “Even you try to get a couple of them, what you’re going to end up finding is that you’re going to have to learn so much about the individual framework that by the time you do all of that learning the challenge might have moved on.”
