We’re seeing a transformation. IT leaders are saying aren’t hiding in the shadows anymore, they’re getting beyond hair on fire mode and into a proactive state. Not just in IT, but throughout the organization. As this shift has occurred, the role of service management has grown from just IT service management to more of an enterprise service management — bringing value and processes to various team and increasing efficiency. But, this isn’t happening across the organization, there is still room to grow according to the experts:
- “They have been given the tools and processes to help people actually achieve their goals. Imagine that.” said Cinda Daly. “Then, return to the present time and figure out what you need to do to build to that future view.”
- “Service management hasn’t quite realized the the value and potential within the industry,” Julie Mohr. “You get the value-add from it, but now you’re ready to continuously improve.”
- “It’s hard to get to a digital transformation unless you understand the technical debt and the organizational component,” said Roy Atkinson. “Which is getting the information, skills, and tools into the middle of the organization because it’s the middle managers that are the hinge on which the organization can move.”
